The mission of PPLM is to protect and promote sexual and reproductive health and freedom of choice by providing clinical services, education and advocacy.

Description:
Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM) is a not-for-profit reproductive health care organization. PPLM's mission is to encourage and facilitate responsible and informed decisions about reproductive and sexual behavior and to foster and preserve a climate favorable to informed choice. PPLM is committed to preserving and expanding reproductive rights, establishing unrestrictive access to reproductive health care, and providing the highest quality medical, education, and advocacy services.

History:
PPLM's history dates back to August 1916, when a group known as the Emergency Defense Committee was formed to fulfill the goal of changing birth control laws of the early 1900s. In 1932, the organization, which was later to become PPLM, entered its second phase as the Birth Control League of Massachusetts. The Birth Control League became the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, an affiliate of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, in 1945.
