Originally founded in 1875 as a settlement house supporting new immigrant families, the East End House continues its commitment to a diverse population, providing programs and services to strengthen family and community. East End House strives to be the center of community life, a safe haven welcoming, linking and collaborating with individuals of all ages, their families, businesses and community institutions to create innovative programs in the pursuit of excellence on a sound fiscal basis.

Description:
East End House is a not-for-profit, multi-service community center and social service agency committed to providing programs and services to strengthen family and community in East Cambridge, Cambridge, and the Greater Boston area. Volunteers play an integral role in the programs and services provided by East End House. Volunteers are welcomed in any of the following areas:

Child Care and Preschool: Read, share a talent (guitar, dance) or assist teachers with activities.

After School Program: Run special workshops (sports, dance, crafts) or assist group leaders with activities.

Emergency Food Pantry: Help out in our food pantry or deliver groceries to housebound seniors.

Community Programs: Teach a class or workshop in an area of expertise (yoga, computers, ESL, etc.) or help out at special events.

We also welcome volunteers to work with us to create their own volunteer opportunity.

History:
Since 1875 East End House has been making a difference in the lives of children, families, and individuals living in the Greater Boston Area. From well-baby clinics at the turn of the century, to New Deal Programs during the Great Depression, to multilingual energy audits for lower-income families in the seventies, to the new community center facility completed in 1993, East End House has evolved with the needs of the community.
