THINK Together's mission is to provide high quality academically-oriented after school programs to young people regardless of race, creed, or socio-economic status.

Description:
THINK (Teaching, Helping, Inspiring, Nurturing Kids) Together is a network of after school programs established in response to the growing numbers of non-native English speaking students in Orange County who were academically performing far below grade level and/or at risk of retention, and required additional assistance and encouragement to continue to pursue their education.

History:
The THINK Together story began in the Shalimar neighborhood in Westside Costa Mesa in 1994. After a gang shooting in the neighborhood, mothers organized to take the neighborhood back from the gangs. Their efforts caught the attention of a local businessman named Randy Barth, who with several leaders from local churches, founded the first after school program in the Shalimar apartments. Since the program's inception, THINK Together has grown from a single site to a network of after school programs throughout Southern California. More than 1,000 employees and thousands of volunteers help more than 20,000 students in grades K-12 achieve academic success through an emphasis on English language proficiency, improved study habits, and individualized support in curriculum subjects.
