The agency mission is: "Quality, nurturing child care provided by a professional and caring staff in a safe environment for families in the community."
Description:
The Oak Park & River Forest Day Nursery provides affordable, full time child care for children ages two to six years old. Our staff has an extensive educational & training background in their work with young children. The Creative Curriculum educational program supports the Illinois Early Learning Standards for the preschool age child. Five classrooms range in size from 13 children to 19 children, with an overall child/adult ratio of 7 to 1. Children are served nutritious meals equivalent to two-thirds of their daily intake. Field trips are taken at least three times per year. An active Parent Program supports parental involvement and allows interested parents to eventually join the Board of Directors. Fundraising supports the daily operations and is conducted by the Board of Directors and Parents.
History:
The Oak Park & River Forest Day Nursery began in 1912 to serve the child care needs of the community. The agency is located in an historical building serving 77 children between the ages of 2 and 6 years old. Licensed by the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services and the Village of Oak Park. The agency is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
