We are an after school program located in inner city Lithonia. We need volunteers to help children with homework, tutor in subjects where children are having difficulty, and provide assistance with other enrichment programs and special projects during non-school hours.
We would also like volunteers who bring new ideas and other initiatives to our program in order to best help the children with their academic and personal lives. Many children attending the after school program need assistance with reading, reading comprehension and math assignments. Volunteers should be able to work with children from all backgrounds and be willing to help children follow through on commitments and also help children exercise proper behavior.
We need people that love children, show patience and understanding, and love to read. In addition, people with computer skills and other technology skills, including the Internet are needed. Some children require one-on-one assistance,some need nurturing and to be listened to while others need just a little help and exercises independence. From I-20 E exit at Evans Mill Road. Turn left and proceed across Covington Hwy until Evans Mill Road turns into Main Street downtown Lithonia. Cross over the rails and take a right turn onto Conyers Street. Beyond The Bell is located on the corner of Conyers Street and Bruce Street and is housed in a large blue house.
