Nathaniel United Methodist Mission is an organization established in 1946 to serve the residents of Irishtown and Davis Bottoms in Lexington, Kentucky. This area of Lexington is one of the most economically depressed sections of our inner city. Most of the residents are the “working poor”, some are disabled and have limited job skills and education. The mission also accepts referrals from local homeless shelters, abuse centers, and various charitable organizations.

In 1979, the Nathaniel Mission opened a health clinic to meet the needs of those who could not otherwise afford healthcare. Since then, the clinic has grown to provide medical, optical, gynecological, podiatry, and pharmaceutical care. We also provide physical therapy, counseling services, and veterinarian clinics for the residents’ pets. The Mission operates on a volunteer basis with 9 physicians, 12 nurses, 1 Ophthalmologist, 6 Veterinarians, and 2 Pharmacists.

The need for basic dental care in this community is tremendous, and we are currently embarking on opening our new dental clinic. We have been blessed with a grant which covered the expenses for brand new equipment, including two operational dental chairs. We are currently raising funds for a full-time dental assistant. Dental care will be provided for a mere donation of $5.00 for those who can pay.
