Our mission is to prevent lung disease and promote lung health. Statewide programs and services focus on tobacco control, asthma, lung disease, and environmental health.
Description:
The American Lung Association has many programs that revolve around promoting good lung health and preventing bad lung health. For example, N-O-T, a program which is devised to help teens stop smoking. It also helps with nicotine withdrawal and how to manage relapses. This organization also needs the help of volunteers to Volunteer in the Fight Against Lung Disease! The American Lung Association of Massachusetts needs you, your time, and your skills to help with programs and special events. Through innovative education, research, and advocacy, the Lung Association is working hard to fight lung disease today and prevent lung disease tomorrow. Join the oldest voluntary health association and volunteer!
History:
The American Lung Association® is the oldest voluntary health organization in the United States, with a National Office and constituent and affiliate associations around the country. Founded in 1904 to fight tuberculosis, the American Lung Association® today fights lung disease in all its forms, with special emphasis on asthma, tobacco control and environmental health. The American Lung Association® is funded by contributions from the public, along with gifts and grants from corporations, foundations and government agencies. The American Lung Association® achieves its many successes through the work of thousands of committed volunteers and staff.
