It is the mission of the Sutton Council on Aging to identify the needs of the elder residents, aged 60 and over. Inform and educate the community, and public officials, and to enlist support and participation of residents to serve those needs. Identify, coordinate and offer additional elder services available within and beyond Sutton.

Description:
Our Senior Center is a community focal point where senior citizens, as individuals or in groups, come together for services and activities which enhance their dignity, support their independence, and encourage their involvement in the community. To keep the whole center running efficiently, we should not forget , the VOLUNTEER! Whether in the meals site or at our reception desk, or in other areas of our center, the volunteer is the key to getting the job done. We provide many services including an Outreach program, Friendly Visitor, Senior Companion, Meals on Wheels, Golden Age Club, Transporation, Friends of the Sutton Elders Inc, Hot Meals, free computer classes. Many programs and educational opportunities.

History:
The Sutton Council on Aging was organized in 1972 by Evelyn Shaw. The COA is a municipal board that, in Sutton, consists of 7 members and 4 alternates, which meets once a month. The mission of the COA is to set the policies for the activities of the Council. To identify the needs of elder residents, aged 60 and over. To inform and educate the community, and public officials, and to enlist support and participation of residents to serve those needs. To identify, coordinate and offer additional elder services available within and beyond Sutton. To be responsible for the activities and well-being of the Senior Center and its staff.

 From Providence or South of Sutton: Take route 146 north to Main St-Whitinsvilee-Manchaug Exit. Go left and take first left onto Hough rd. From the North: Take route 190 or 495 South to Route 290 to Route 146 south. Follow route 146 south approx. 15 miles to the Main St.-Whitinsvilee-Manchaug Exit. Go right and then take your first left onto Hough Rd.
