The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Description:
The Salvation Army of NWA operates 2 Emergency Shelters, 2 Soup Kitchens, 3 Corps Community Centers, 4 Thrift Stores and 4 Social Service Offices. We provide a warm bed, meals, clothing, toiletries, utility/rental funds(when available), Case Management, Job Search assistance, prescription assistance(antibiotics only), Disaster Services,Emergency transportation, Worship services, Social Development Groups, Thanksgiving & Christmas assistance. Our shelters are open all time, so anyone in need can always reach a live person. We are dedicated to doing the most good with what we have to work with. We love to share the news of the gospel with others, but it is not criteria for our services. We believe if we meet the needs of people, we can then tell them of Christ's love for them, and they will be more likely to believe.

History:
The Salvation Army was founded in 1865 by William Booth in England and gradually moved this way. In 1968, the first Social Services opened in Fayetteville up near the square. We are here to assist individuals and families in emergency situations. Sometimes we can help someone with a need that other local agencies cannot provide assistance for.
